DIA Art Program Call for Artists
Denver International Airport is pleased to announce a call to Colorado artists, galleries, museums, cultural centers, and Colorado destinations to participate in a juried exhibition highlighting our beautiful state. The exhibition will be on display from April 2008 to January 2009, during the Democratic National Convention and the airport's busy holiday travel season. The exhibition, titled " Colorado , See the New West Like a Local," will express the essence of Colorado as interpreted by the residents who live here. The exhibition will be made up of poems and short written statements about Colorado that will then be illustrated through visual, tactile, sound, and multimedia original artworks produced by Colorado artists.
Written statements were submitted from around Colorado , and the selection committee identified 137 to be considered for interpretation by artists.
DIA Art Program is requesting Colorado artists, galleries, museums, cultural centers, and Colorado destinations select their favorite statement or statements from the list provided and submit an original artwork that best illustrates the statement. Each applicant can select up to two statements and submit up to two artwork entries.
The call is open to an applicant's interpretation of a statement, either representational or abstract. Historical artifacts or artworks already created that an applicant believes artistically conveys or relates to a statement, or new works inspired by a statement, will be accepted.
Deadline: Midnight (MDT) Friday, January 25, 2008.
